ECR Spotlight features interviews with early-career authors from the Journal of Experimental Biology, highlighting the diversity of researchers and the variety of animals in experimental biology. Alejandro Damian-Serrano, author of “Colonial architecture modulates the speed and efficiency of multi-jet swimming in salp colonies,” conducted this research as a postdoc in Kelly R. Sutherland's lab at the University of Oregon. He is a comparative naturalist focusing on functional morphology, ecology, and natural history differences among species.
